Oddity Hen and Chicks

Sempervivum 'Oddity'

Oddity Hens and Chicks is an evergreen succulent that forms mats and has medium-sized, thick-fleshed leaves with dark crimson ends. With horizontal stems, the mother rosette (hen) extends out to produce offsets (chicks). A tall stalk with clusters of red-purple blooms rises from the hen in the summer. After flowering, the hen dies, making room for the chicks to grow. Full sun and dry to medium well-drained soils produce the best color. Once established, tolerant to heat and drought.
