A bushy deciduous shrub known as Hibiscus syriacus Blue Chiffon® (Rose of Sharon) produces lacy, pale blue, semi-double flowers that can measure up to 4 inches (10 cm) across and are ornamented with a star-shaped red-purple stain at the base of the outer petals. Each blossom lasts approximately a day and stands out against the green foliage of the widely ovate leaves. They bloom consistently from midsummer to October. A structural shrub that is particularly good for the back of the border.
