As the new foliage fills in, the great color appears early in the spring and lights up the little shrub with a brilliant orange-red hue. The foliage turns a stunning chartreuse as it ages, and electric purple blossoms that arrive in late spring add even more eye-popping color to the arrangement. Due to its small size, it makes good low hedge or edging at the front of the border.
