Chelone obliqua, also known as Twisted Shell Flower, is a striking and enduring perennial. It forms upright clumps and produces eye-catching spikes of two-lipped flowers in shades of dusky deep pink or purple. These showy blooms appear from late summer and continue into the fall. Resembling turtle heads emerging from a shell, the unique shape of the hooded flowers gives the plant its common name.
